Blackjack Objective

Before we tell you how to play blackjack, we will first tell you the objective of the game. That way you know what it is that you want to achieve as you play the game. The objective of blackjack and every other online casino game is to beat the dealer. It is as simple as that.

How to Beat the Dealer in Online Blackjack?

By having a card value that is higher than the dealers’ card value.
You beat the dealer if their card value is above 21.
If your first 2 cards value is 21 and the dealers are not.

As much as you can beat the dealer when you play blackjack, there are also ways that the dealer can beat you.

If your card value is more than 21
If the dealers’ cards value are more than yours at the end of the game

Online Blackjack Card Values

Above, we mentioned a lot about cards and their card value, as well as the objective. And in this section of the How to play blackjack guide, we look at those card value as well how to calculate them.

Blackjack is generally played with a deck for 52 playing cards. Playing online, however, players can find games that have up to 8 decks. This makes the game more exciting. Regardless of how many decks are used to play the game, the card vales are still the same.

Cards 2 to 10 have their face value i.e, 2=2; 5=5 etc
Face cards i.e J; Q; K =10

Blackjack Table Layout

The online blackjack table has four buttons. These are split; stand hit and double.

Split
You can split your cards if they are of the same value. Take for instance you are dealt two 10’s players can split them and play two separate hands. Players will have to place a bet on each of the hands though.
Stand
You click this button when you no longer want the dealer to deal you any more cards.
Hit
You click this button when you want the dealer to deal you more cards.
Double
This is when you want double you bet or increase the amount of money that you are betting on.
The online blackjack table also has a section where there the cards are dealt from; this is usefully on the right of the table. In addition, on the left, is where the played cards will be sent.

At the bottom of the screen, there will be chips with various betting ranges. Usually, players can bet place bets from C$1 up to C$500. This will depend on the minimum and maximum bet size that can be placed on the table.

And in the middle of the table will be written, “ Blackjack Pays 3 to2”. This means that should a players first two cards equal 21, they win 3x their bet.

Also in the middle, there might be section written, “ Dealer Stands at 16/17/18”. This will depend on the software provider. And this means that once the dealer reaches 16/17/18, they are no longer allowed to draw any more cards. However, if the dealers’ card value is 15, they have to draw a card.

“Insurance Pays 2 to 1”. Can be written on the blackjack table. This means that a player is allowed to get insurance when the dealer has an Ace with the assumption that the other card has a value of 10. It pays out 2:1.
